Botanical Name - Bergenia cordifolia 'Diamond Drops'
Common Name - Pigsqueak, Heartleaf
Description - Bergenia are incredibly hardy, forming a low clumping ground cover with leathery green leaves, which often turn bronze during winter, a valuable addition to cut flower bouquets. A very pretty new dwarf variety containing compact flower heads studded with pure white florets that are cup shaped and have bright stamens in the centre, all of which gives the impression of sparkling diamonds. Evergreen foliage and early flowering makes this a good plant for late winter colour. Looks fabulous planted en mass or used as an edging along a walkway. Tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, in both part sun to shade gardnes.
Flower Time - Late winter, spring
Size - Grows to 20cm high x 60cm wide.
Use - Low growing plant, ideal for shady borders, under trees, down the south side of homes & clustered in perennial borders or container gardens.
Position - Shaded to part shade position.
Maintenance - Very low maintenance. Can be easily divided in winter.
