Common Name- Salvia

Description -A ‘shrubby’ Salvia with deep green leaves and large flowers with lime green calyxes and electric blue flowers. A stunning display loved by the birds and bees. Flowering for a long period, this is a great addition to your garden giving height in your perennial boarder. This salvia is a cultivar of Salvia mexicana and is native to the Queretaro Province of Mexico. It was introduced to the horticultural world in 1978 by Robert Ornduff, from the University of California Botanical Gardens in Berkeley. It can be semi-deciduous in some areas, but is generally an evergreen plant with many base branches. It is a hardy plant, will tolerate light frost but may need protection in regions with heavy winter frosts. It performs at its best in a more protected position and provides a good fence screen in the garden.

Flower Time Flowering for a very long period from summer to early winter

Size Grows to 1.2-1.8m high x 1.2-1.5m wide.

Use -  Quick growing shrubby Salvia which gives long lasting colour for many months. An excellent addition to the back row of the perennial boarder.

Position - Performs best with full sun or light shade

Maintenance – Very hardy, though deep watering is recommended during extended dry periods. Cover the roots with mulch during winter for the cold and summer for the dry. Cut back hard once your frosts have finished in spring, then apply a slow release fertilize.
