Good Bugs for Bad Bugs (IPM)
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a fantastic management strategy we use here at Planters Patch to control our bad bug populations!
IPM helps us reduce our reliance on chemicals which can harm our wider ecosystem. Our water run off goes into the Hawkesbury River, which servers a wide community of people AND animals.
We release natural predators of our pests before they become outbreaks! Such as Lady Beetles, Fairy Wasps, Lacewings, Roundworms and Predatory Mites!
We also use sticky traps in our enclosed Greenhouse to detect any outbreaks. Sticky traps are a great tool if used correctly. They can cause harm to birds, lizards and other animals that can also get stick to the sticky surface! Our Greenhouse has no animals able to get inside, so it's a safe place to use sticky traps.
As a consumer, you can buy good bugs from retails such as Bugs for Bugs. We have no affiliation with Bugs for Bugs, we just love their products and what they do!
