A PBR on a plant is Plant Breeder's Rights these rights are granted to the plants original breeder. These PBR varieties allow the breeder to collect funds from their intellectual property (new plant they have bred) for a number of years to aid in there continuation of breeding new and improved varieties.

What does this mean for you?

Limited availability due to the breeders control of distribute rights.

Higher cost for new varieties for a limited time until the PBR expires.
